Book Review: The Supper Club Saints

Favorite Quote: The knives that had been thrown were not ones easily removed. The bleeding was internal—there, but hard to see.

The Supper Club Saints is a beautiful exploration of modern motherhood.

Cass Simon escapes what had once been a dream come true after joining a Mommune started by her favorite momfluencer (social media mom guru). What started as a way to help other mothers find the true, meaningful support that she and they had always craved turned into something much darker. When Cass finds herself back home in small-town Wisconsin, she must navigate her relationships with her mother, sister, and sister-in-law, each of whom have had very different experiences of motherhood than Cass has had.

This novel explores themes of forgiveness, trust, and the ways our pasts shape us. It also explores what it means to be a family—regardless of the circumstances in which we find ourselves.

This novel was lighter than most books I would rate five stars, but it has nonetheless earned all five stars from me. It reminded me of Theo of Golden in that sense—it is a beautiful, heartwarming book. The plot had enough drama to keep me turning the pages, and I loved the dynamic, fully developed characters throughout. I highly recommend it to anyone who has ever wondered whether or not they are a good enough mother.
